Self-Care = Self-Love

Self-Care=Self-Love

We hear a lot about self-care and self-love, but what do these mean? Why should we create habits to support either or both of these?

Let’s start by explaining what self-care and self-love are.

Self-Care

Self-care is how you take care of yourself, both physically and mentally. What decisions do you make to create a healthy body and mind? Do you take time to rest? Do you choose more sleep over a Netflix binge? Do you spend time doing things that bring you joy? Really think about how you participate in activities that promote self-care.

Self-Love

Self-love is expressing unconditional love towards yourself. How do you treat yourself? Are your words or thoughts about yourself kind or hurtful? Do you compare yourself to others or do you appreciate yourself? Do beat yourself up for not being where you think you should be in life or do you accept yourself as you are?

Self-Care = Self-Love

To compare the two, self-care is taking care of yourself and self-love is showing compassion in how you think and feel about yourself.

Self-care and self-love are different, but they are both necessary. Why do we say that self-care equals self-love? Because practicing self-care is a way of showing self-love.

Awareness and mindfulness are key. When you are present and relaxed instead of running around like your hair is on fire, you have more space to breathe and make choices that are healthier for you.

At The Floating Lotus, our goal is to support you in incorporating more self-care in your life, producing self-love! We care about you and your well-being. Each staff member wants you to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing, pleasant experience, whether that is through a massage, facial or Yoga class.
