Online Classes

Stay connected, move and meditate together, even if you can’t come to the studio for classes! The Floating Lotus has added real-time, virtual classes so you can practice from home, work, or anywhere.

To get set up for online classes:

  1. Visit https://zoom.us/ and create a free account with your name and email address as it appears in your Mindbody account.
  2. Download and install the mobile app for your device.
  3. After you sign up for an online class, you will receive a link and password to join that class on Zoom. Check your spam and junk mail folders if you don’t get the email. Please register at least 30 minutes prior to the start of class.
  4. For the best experience, use a device with a video camera and microphone (like a laptop, tablet or smartphone). If you have a Bluetooth speaker, link it to your device and keep it near your mat for an even better experience.
  5. Grab your yoga mat, any props that you may need, water and a towel.
  6. Before the class begins, follow the Zoom link. Sign in, test your audio and video, and you should be all set to join the class. Give yourself about 15 minutes before class to get Zoom ready.
  7. We will chat for a bit at the beginning of class and then get started. You will need to mute your microphone when class begins after the chat, to help reduce feedback.
  8. After our class ends, unmute so we can chat a few minutes before ending the session.

Class Descriptions

Our highly trained instructors offer a wide variety of Yoga classes to suit any experience level.

Basic and Beginner Yoga

If you are new to Yoga, please come to one of our classes geared specifically for beginners. As you learn the basics, we invite you to try Basic Flow and then All-Levels Flow and Lunchtime classes. You are always welcome in any class, but beginner classes are better adapted to those who are new to Yoga.

Please come to class 5-10 minutes early so we can meet you and you can fill out our new-student paperwork.

Listen to your body and honor what you are feeling. Yoga brings you into your body – this can be a very new experience, so be patient with yourself and rest as needed.

Yoga also brings you more in touch with your emotions. Be kind to yourself with any feelings that arise – experiencing emotion during yoga is normal. Breathing and sitting with those emotions, as well as talking to loved ones and allowing yourself to express what arises, can be beneficial.

Warm Yoga

We heat our room to 80° for warm Yoga. The warm room is designed to make it easier to increase your range of motion and release tight muscles – and to make you sweat! Be prepared by wearing clothes that you are comfortable sweating in, and by bringing a towel and water bottle.

These classes are for all levels of practice. Beginners may want to try Beginner or Basic Flow classes first.

Gentle Restorative Yoga

If you are looking for something slower paced, more contemplative and restorative, this may be the style for you. This style of Yoga targets the connective tissue, with practitioners relaxing into poses held for longer periods of time – from 45 seconds for beginners to 5 minutes. Gentle Restorative Yoga is often meditative in nature.

These classes are appropriate for all levels of practice.

All-Levels Yoga

Everyone from practiced beginners to more advanced students will enjoy our all-levels classes. These classes are designed to give every student the ability to move at their own pace. All-levels classes include All-Levels Flow, Lunchtime Yoga, Prana Flow and more.

These classes are for all levels of practice. Beginners may want to try Beginner or Basic Flow classes first.

Yoga Student Guidelines

  • Be loving and kind to yourself.
  • You begin a Yoga practice from where you are, without self-judgement. Accepting where you are right now is Yoga.
  • Let us know about you.
  • Before class, please share with your teacher any injuries or limitations, so that we can offer you the best practice for your needs. The more you share with us, the more we can create the space for your unique and individual practice to unfold.
  • Practice on an empty stomach.
  • Ideally, Yoga should be practiced on an empty stomach, 2 to 3 hours after a meal. If you need fuel, eat something light, like fruit. Also, you should refrain from coffee or other caffeinated beverages both before and after class.
  • Do not wear cologne or perfume in class.
  • Many people have allergies and wearing a strong fragrance may affect others. Yoga encourages you to breathe deeply, so be mindful and leave your favorite scents at home.
  • Turn off your cell phones.
  • We want to create a sacred space, not only for your practice but also for those around you.
  • Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move and stretch.
  • Breathable, light-weight fabrics are recommended. Dressing in layers is a good idea: as the body heats up, you can remove a layer, and as you cool down you can add one.
  • Ready to take your practice further? Try our Yoga Teacher Training courses. Through teacher training, you will more deeply experience the supportive community of The Floating Lotus and cultivate a lifestyle of self-mastery, empowerment and service to others.
