Buh-bye stress! Relaxation for the 5 senses
We all know we should learn to relax to reduce stress. Relaxation can ease anxiety, slow the heart rate and help you decompress. A recent study even shows that relaxation techniques can alter your genes’ reactions, reducing blood pressure!
Ready to reap the benefits of relaxation? The Floating Lotus is offering a new workshop, Relaxation for the 5 Senses, 5:30-7 p.m. April 20. During this 90-minute workshop, Yoga teacher Monique Raines and Floating Lotus staff instructor Amy Widner will lead you in letting the five senses light the way as you fully immerse yourself in the present moment.
The session will begin with a series of yin yoga postures, as Monique guides you in slowing down, gently stretching, and turning inward. Then, Amy will lead the group in a collection of relaxing and supportive restorative poses. Sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch will serve as touchstones for guided meditations throughout the practice.
Cost for the workshop is $20. No experience is necessary, and all are welcome. Props are provided; comfortable movement clothes are recommended. Visit our workshops page to register.
